Protests at the Capital!
With a large percentage of the new rangers composed of the Northern Elves the large body of men in the capital looking for work took notice.  For several days the job seekers marched in protest until Arnkell was forced to make a speech on the issue.

In his speech Arnkell addressed how race would be addressed in our New Kingdom.
Arnkell said: A large majority of the new rangers are indeed Northern Elves. The composition of the rangers did not come about from the consideration of race but from the consideration of trustworthiness and skills that are needed in the rangers. Most of the rangers served in the scouts during the war of liberation. Because the rangers will be operating miles away from direction or assistance the Regents and myself have put a heavy weighting on using veterans we know and trust in the Rangers. A Ranger who was not trustworthy would cause much harm.

The Northern Elves from the scouts have known skills in tracking, horsemanship and in living off the land. The Rangers are expected to cover many miles and the fact that the Northern Elves also have their own mounts is also a great help in forming the Ranger companies quickly.

In the New Kingdom we need to look beyond race or the kingdom will quickly fall apart as the territory of the kingdom includes so many races. In place of race let us categorize based on character, actions and skills. There is endless work and opportunity in rebuilding the territories of the New Kingdom after the damage from the war of liberation so fear not there will be rewarding work for all who seek it.

Surveyors Needed!
Some of the survey teams have been put off by the dangers of operating in the field away from protection and have dropped out of the survey program. Applicants who wish to perform survey work from Interior to Silver Springs need to apply at the Dancing Cow Inn.
