Progress At The Capital!
The house of Regents has been seated. To save time Arnkell has appointed a representative for each region. The seating of the Regents will allow the pressing business of creating a tax code and providing the citizens of the New Kingdom protection for their lives and property to be expedited. Commanders for the Rangers have been selected and the formation of units has been moving forward at a frantic pace. The dedication of the army veterans to the New Kingdom and Arnkell has allowed the development of the Rangers before a budget or wages have been set. The government will operate with just Arnkell and the Regents until elections can take place for the Peoples House. Closely following the Rangers will be census workers so a count can be made of the population of each county and the number of the People Representatives can be set for the first election. In the streets of the new capital of Central City the activity is frantic as a riled ant hill. Long live the new Kingdom!

Windy Point Troll Has Been Killed!
Jeouf and his two companions Mott and Doan where attacked by the troll as they prepared to camp for the night. This is Jeouf's account of the attack.

Doan and I had decided dwarf stonework would be needed in the reconstruction of the damage caused by the wars of liberation and thus decided to travel to Interior to find work. To help with our baggage we retained the services of the powerful and friendly orc Mott.

We had made one days hard march from Central City and as night closed in we located what looked like a nice camping location in a small gully. Mott and I were arranging the gear while Doan prepared a fire. Out of the gathering dusk a large stone crashed into the camp! We looked up and located the troll and with a shout all three of us rushed toward it. The troll backed up in an attempt to pick up a second stone but we were closing on it so fast it was not able to and so it retreated. As the troll scrambled through the rapidly narrowing gully we closed with it. I paused to throw an axe but with the climbing and running my aim was off. A few steps forward and I paused again to throw a second axe once again without success.

The troll was able to pickup a second rock and heaved it in our direction! We ducked and the rock went over our heads. The time the troll spent in picking up the stone allow us to close with it. Doan struck the first blow and gashed it's leg. Mott slashed his sword at the troll's arm but the troll knocked his sword from his hand. I swung my axe and missed! as the troll retreated farther into the gully. Running out of room the troll turned and made it's last stand. Doan filled with the fire of youth rushed the troll and to his doom. The troll lashed out and hit Doan so hard he was killed directly and his body was knocked twenty feet from the fight. Hired to help carry the baggage and without his sword Mott did not hold back and charged the troll with his bare hands!

Mott was able to grab onto the troll's arm and disrupt it's attack taking a nasty wound to his thigh in the process. With the distraction of Mott's attack I was able to hit the troll with a killing blow with my axe. After I made sure the troll was killed I bound Mott's wound and ran to Doan's side. I still feel great sorrow at Doan's death and it was not easy writing to his kin about his death. I am most impressed with the bravery and dedication demonstrated by Mott. It was not Mott's fight and he could have just run away. Attacking a troll without a weapon to help defend someone you had only known a day was nothing less than heroic! Mott's wound is mending well and he will be my new partner in Mott - Jeouf & Company.
