Assigning Crews
From Donboy

Over time I expect crews to have jobs that they like and to stay with the same job from session to session. The crews assignment at the end of the management session would cover the expected crews for the next weeks operating session to get a jump start on the process. If things are going really well we would have more crews looking for trains then we could handle but I expect from time to time the number of crews will not match the number of trains and we will have to make adjustments.

If we know in advance of the management session that we will have to many crews for the number of trains we ran the last session customer demands for service can be added before the management session and the result will be more trains that need crews as long as I have the equipment needed to support it.

If the number of crews available does not match the number of trains needed to support the customer demands in the system the customer demands can be reduced before the management session.

The manager/owner of a train has first choice of the crew that wants to run their train and they will available to make that choice when using a request form on 12 Mile Station that will email the manager and myself.

If the manager does not respond in a timely fashion I will be able to assign crews to requested assignments.

Government jobs like the yard switcher will be assigned by me. I can also be contacted by phone to be assigned to a government job or one of my railroad company jobs (if I have not gone bankrupt!).

I plan to start with one or two trains (construction trains at first) while building the layout and keep adding trains as the layout will handle it and as crews are available.
