This is my finished Tom Yorke steel On30 boxcar. I added a little brake platform ala EBT home made steel car as found on page 9 or Carstens publications Slim Gauge Cars. I can spray painted the car oxide red. The following day I added rubber cement blotches for resist. I then sprayed silver roof and primer grey sides. I then picked off the rubber cement to show the effects of peeling paint caused by underlying rust. The thing here is to restrain yourself as the process can be quite entertaining and easily overdone (ahem!). Chalk was then added for the staining of liquid rust flowing down the sides along with dirt. I did not use the corrugated roof material supplied in the kit but rather added small ribs on the roof to indicate overlapped panels.
