Hot Times for Thorian

We had a warm moment on a winter's day in Eagle's
Nest. Thorian has been complaining relentlessly about the cold and how he
could not get his house warm with his old stove. Not one to be passive
in the face of adversity, Thorian worked out a plan to increase the
performance of his stove. He obtained a drum of oil from Rhun Oil and
proceeded to mount it, next to his house. It was an easy task to drill
trough the wall and run a pipe with a valve to control the flow of oil
into the stove. Thorian added more wood to the stove to build up the fire
and then opened the valve on the oil pipe until the oil dripped into
the stove at just the right rate. It worked like a charm! After all
the fussing around and with the extra heat, Thorian fell asleep in his
chair. While Thorian was sleeping, all was quiet as the fire burned down
and unburned oil built up in the bottom of the stove. When Thorian woke
up, he noticed the fire was just embers but as he added wood and
stirred the embers he forgot about the oil and the oil fumes as a
result, he created the most wondrous explosion. Thorian landed in his
front yard without his eyebrows and the walls of his house were blown
down in all four directions. The roof of Thorian's house traveled 400
feet before it returned to the ground. Thorian is fine but his ears were
ringing for a while. We expect it will be some time before Thorian is
complaining about the cold again! |
