A bit of drama in Eagle's Nest today. The
"general store committee" were the first to notice that in the middle
of mild winter day, it seemed that the dark cloud of a small but very
intense summer storm accompanied by load bangs and other noises was
quickly moving down Rock Valley and approaching Eagle's Nest. In a few
minutes, many of the locals of Eagle's Nest had come out to the street
to see what was going on. Soon the "storm" was on the edge of town and
turned into a old rail truck in faded green with an incredible amount of
items attached and piled on the truck's swaying frame. The truck was
creating an angry black cloud of oil as it wobbled from side to side as if it would careen off the track at any
second. With a lurch, the rail truck came to a stop on the team track next to the station.
There was a whir, a sigh and then a loud bang that sent all of the good
citizens of Eagle's Nest running for cover. Immediately, a puddle of
oil formed under the rail truck and it was obvious that it was a miracle
that it had traveled any distance at all .
As everyone recovered from their fright, a begrimed and dusty hobbit
in goggles emerged from the truck. It turns out we have a new resident
for Eagle's Nest! Fair Weather Took the driver of the truck ( a total worn-out
wreck without windows ) had "repaired" the found rail truck so he could come
to Eagle's Nest all the way from Gondor . He was the stranger who had bought the old machine shop on
the edge of town! In high spirits, Fair Weather stated his mission was to
fix and repair any and all machinery in Eagle's Nest that was not
working. Fair Weather also observed that if there was no machinery to do a
task he could invent a solution from material on hand.
It was some time after Fair Weather left to inspect his new property along
with the capable but curious help of the "general store committee"
before calm was restored in Eagle's Nest. A hobbit with a machine shop of all things! All agreed that it would be
interesting to see how the new resident worked out.
