This book by Edmund Keilty covers the whole US with rosters and many pictures of the self-propelled cars that ran on short lines. As you would expect there where some very creative solutions to transportation in the mix. I enjoyed the book, perfect for the person who wants a lot of pictures and not a lot of reading.
