This is a book I purchased at a used book store when I was visiting Portland
Oregon a few years ago. This book covers the activities in the Puget
Sound from the days of discovery up to the 1940s. It contains a many
black and white photographs of ships and dock areas. I like the pictures
of the water front from the late 1800s and the early 1900s because the buildings
and wharfs are much smaller in scale and lend themselves to modeling.
The text is very readable and tells about the problems and pressures that
guided the development the Puget Sound water front.
There are also good pictures of ferry boats that provides useful information
that could to used to model a tug and rail barge or a railroad ferry boat. |
