I put in a suspended ceiling so I can get to the mechanicals of the house if I need to work on them. To save on masking effort, I painted the walls first and then put in the ceiling.
The Grid
With all the prep work and clean up done, it was gratifying to see how quickly the grid work went in.
Getting the Grid level
Installing grid work for a suspended ceiling is not that
demanding. The main challenge is to get it level. I decided that this would be a good reason to get one of the new laser tools that are now on the market.
The laser needed to be at the level of the ceiling and my tripod would only get half way there. Necessity is the mother of invention. I found that placing a door that I got to use for benchwork on top of my weight rack made a stable platform to place the tripod. The laser worked great and it really saved time getting the grid level.
